FAQs

GETTING THERE

Do I need snow chains?+

All 2WD vehicles must carry chains when driving within Kosciuszko National Park. Chains are available for hire around Cooma and Jindabyne. There is a fine if caught without them.

Do I need a park entry permit?+

Yes. A permit is required to enter Kosciuszko National Park and must be displayed on your windscreen. Annual passes →

Arriving on the weekend?+

Please note, due to the Perisher and Smiggins car parks often filling up on the weekends, National Parks will often require proof of your booking when driving up the mountain. Have your booking allocation email confirmation with you to show them, so you are allowed to drive up the hill.

PARKING

Is there parking at the lodge?+

Windarra has five allocated overnight spots. Parking is limited and must be requested at the time of booking. There is an additional fee. The Smiggins carpark is for day use only.

Please work with your fellow lodge mates to look after anyone staying without a car space. They will need to park at Sawpit or in Jindabyne and get a lift from a lodge mate after dropping off their gear. Bullocks Flat, reachable via the Skitube from Perisher, is another option.

AT THE LODGE

What should I bring?+

Bring your own linen and towels. Bedding is supplied. Bring all your own food. The kitchens are fully equipped for self-catering.

Is there wifi or a TV?+

No. Neither.

What are the check-in and check-out times?+

Check-in is from 2pm. Check-out is by 10am.

Are there any house rules around phones?+

Please keep phone use discreet in the common areas.

CHORES

Is there a chores system?+

Yes. Windarra runs on a shared chores roster and it only works if everyone contributes. Your roster is posted in your room. This applies to your guests too.

Please get your allocated chore done every morning.

LODGE CAPTAIN

Who is the lodge captain?+

Every week has a designated lodge captain. They are your first call for maintenance issues, room questions, and reminding you about your car park pass. They have also heard every excuse for undone chores. Don't test them.

LIFT PASSES

Where do I get a lift pass?+

Purchased directly through Perisher. perisher.com.au →
